ToNY CaMM
FROM THE ROOTS OF THE FUNK TO THaT NeW FuNK
For ToNY CaMM, funk isn't simply a genre. It's a musical tradition, a culture and a creative language that has shaped a career spanning nearly five decades.
CaMM began his musical journey in 1979 as lead singer and percussionist for Cuffs N' Sleeves Band and Show. Inspired heavily by the groundbreaking music, theatricality and creative freedom of George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, he developed a lifelong connection to funk and its ability to bring music, musicians and audiences together.
Over the years, that journey has placed CaMM onstage alongside an impressive collection of artists connected to funk's musical legacy. He has shared the stage with past and present members of Parliament-Funkadelic, including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Michael “Kidd Funkadelic” Hampton, as well as two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Kendra Foster, Bootsy's Rubber Band drummer Frankie “Kash” Waddy, and legendary Mandrill drummer Neftali “Funkadrill” Santiago.
But CaMM's vision has always extended beyond celebrating what came before.
In 2016, he founded THe ALL-STaRS oF FuNK, initially assembling a four-member group around a shared love of funk music. The concept quickly grew far beyond a traditional band. Over time, the All-Stars expanded into a musical collective of approximately 30 musicians, singers and performers—a colorful, high-energy ensemble that has often been described as a “psychedelic funk circus.”
The collective became a vehicle for CaMM's larger philosophy: funk should be communal, visually exciting, musically adventurous and, above all, alive.
In 2026, CaMM took that philosophy another step forward with the launch of the THaT NeW FuNK movement.
Rather than simply recreating the sounds of funk's classic era, THaT NeW FuNK represents a commitment to evolution—drawing inspiration from the music and spirit that came before while developing a fresh sound and presentation for today's audience.
It's a natural progression for an artist whose musical journey began in 1979 and continues decades later with the same fundamental mission:
Respect the roots. Push the sound forward. Keep the funk alive.
This is ToNY CaMM.
This is THaT NeW FuNK.
